Reverend Amziah James is the dedicated and beloved shepherd of Brighter Way Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. With over 30 years of ministry experience, he has faithfully served in nearly every role within the church, including Deacon, Trustee, Usher, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Member. But above all, his greatest joy is teaching the Word of God and helping people grow in their faith.

Pastor James officially became the Senior Pastor of Brighter Way on October 6, 1996. Since then, he has led the church through two relocations, expanded outreach ministries, and launched the Brighter Way Resource and Technology Center, which provided Christian counseling, tutoring, GED prep, and computer training to support youth and families in the community.

 

He is also the founder of Christian Men’s Fellowship ministries at several churches, including Brighter Way. His heart for men’s discipleship has empowered countless men to lead with faith, integrity, and spiritual maturity.

Pastor James is deeply engaged in the community, having served for over 10 years as President of the 79th Precinct Clergy Council. He is currently an active member of the 73 rd Precinct Clergy Council, the African American Clergy, and the Elected Officials Organization, where he continues to advocate for spiritual and social uplift.

He holds a master’s degree from Alliance Theological Seminary, a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University, and certificates in Management and Information Systems. His leadership is marked by humility, wisdom, and genuine love for people.

At Brighter Way, Pastor James remains committed to preaching the Gospel, equipping believers, and serving Brooklyn with a heart full of faith and compassion. Whether in the pulpit or out in the community, he leads by example, pointing people toward the brighter way found in Christ.

Through it all, Pastor James remains a humble servant-leader, devoted to transforming lives through faith, discipleship, and the love of Jesus Christ.
